World's first disposable credit card

Ireland has come up with the world’s first disposable credit card, launched today by Permanent tsb. Just as you can top up your mobiles in shops, the same basis will apply to pre-paid disposable credit vouchers creating greater accessiblilty to Internet shopping, especially from cyber cafes, with no security problems or identity theft worries. Vouchers will be available for 20 upto 350 euros at retail outlets. Each voucher will carry its own unique number and can be used to shop online with anyone who accepts Visa cards. Plans are being made to launch the product in many countries across in the next year or so, including Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and others . A brilliant idea which will instill some sense of much needed security on the net, will probably boost online sales for many and some of keep the fucking phishing, keystroke logging cunts at bay !!

The Rolling Stones - A Bigger Bang

The Rolling Stones , still ''the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world '' kicked off their 31st World Tour at Boston's Fenway Park this week , to an audience of 36,000 people on an enormous $1 million steel stage, (the biggest set ever used by a rock band) weighing 300,000 tons !! They are promoting their new album '' A Bigger Bang '' due to be released on Sept.6th by Virgin records. It is the longest album since,'' Exile on Main St.'', with 16 new tracks ranging from rock and blues, and the first studio album since 1997. ''Sweet Neo Con '' is apparently the most controversial with its lyrics, "You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite/ You call yourself a patriot, Well I think you're full of shit"!
At 62, Jagger is one fit grandaddy training every other day and claims to sleep eight hours every night. Ron Wood is a shit portrait painter and now a teetotaller. Charlie Watts has recovered from throat cancer and leads a quiet life having been married for over 40 years and ,''Keith, of course , is completely straight ''! with 35 scheduled dates in U.S and Canada, the Stones will then tour Mexico, South America, the Far East, New Zealand, Australia, and finally Europe, in the summer of 2006. with a combined age of something like 246 , its great to hear that they can do it with reviews like ''electrifying, spectacular and ebullient''.
Having seen them live in 82 and the Urban jungle tour in 90, would love to see them live at the Hollywod Bowl and have pre-ordered the new album.

AMPAKINE® CX717 - no more sleep deprivation

further progress has been made by Cortex on its drug CX717 that enchances performance for those who suffer sleep deprivation, by reversing changes in the brain patterns. It has been tested in sleep-deprived humans with positive results, according to the developer, Cortex Pharmaceuticals. Some poor monkeys were kept awake for 36 hours and showed increased attentiveness in tests than those who weren't given the pill. As results from the study are proving more encouraging , this could be advantageous to those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and sleep disorders. The drug, known as an ampakine, is designed to target AMPA receptors that are located throughout the brain. These receptors are part of the cellular communication process that involves the neurotransmitter glutamate. The drug prolongs the action of glutamate, allowing more effective communication. As the drug acts differently from caffeine and other stimulants, it does not seem to result in side effects such as hyperactivity, distorted thinking or extended wakefulness. good for people who work day shifts, fall asleep at the wheel, jet lag, sufferers of narcolepsy and I suppose an alternative to those who pop Ritalin for kicks !!

Frank Miller's - Sin City

saw Frank Miller's ''Sin City'' last night, written and directed by Miller, a big comics writer/artist of the 70's & 80's, with assistance from Roberto Rodriguez (El Mariachi) and of course needless to say, some special guest directing from Tarantino .One of the best films I've seen in this year , unfortunately watched it on DVD and not on the big screen. Filmed in black and white with tinges of colour, with copious volumes of blood spurting white and red, it's grisly,super-violent (short axe in the balls) yet visual visceral joy,a great post-modern noir flick. A tremendous performance from Mickey Rourke, who stole the show as Marv, a pumped up, ugly, latex faced, pill-popping, hooker boning, psycho-killer , covered in white luminescent band-aids and constantly changing into the long coats of his freshly killed victims. Great performances from Clive Owen of recent ''Closer'' fame , Benicio del Toro with a pistol part in his forehead, Jessica Alba's succulent cow-girl act and a not so great one from boring Bruce Willis ! Not for the faint-hearted or humourless !!

Piss powered batteries

Scientists have just developed a piss powered paper battery at the Institute of Bio-engineering and Nanotechnology in Singapore. A few drops of piss create enough power equivalent to a 1.5 volt battery. They found that they could alter the battery's performance — voltage, power, or duration, by adjusting the design or materials. Does this give hope to a future where we could recharge our mobile phones with a quick slash, drive another 50km pissing into the gas tank or take a dump in it and travel 600km ? with the price of crude predicted to reach $73 soon, lets hope that bio-fluids/fuel research accelerates !

Motorola V3 Razr - Shove it up yer Moto !!

Seduced by the sharp looks of the black Motorola V3 Razr, I was disappointed to find that a multiple entry feature was not available , i.e. a one name entry with home,mobile,office,e-mail etc all within, not five separate fucking entries !! Seems that some mobile phone manufacturers are losing their focus on what a mobile should be; predominantly the focus should be about a phone that is user friendly, sensible and convenient for telephoning others , not fucking MPEG 4 video playback, cameras, Java enabled games and other such bullshit etc. (one buys a camera to take pictures, not phone someone !) Admittedly it is well designed and touted as ''the world's slimmest mobile phone'', lightweight, metal alloy and pocket-friendly with a great inner screen . The clamshell flip aspect is good too, but perhaps I should see it as a ''dress'' phone , used when out at night (not that its a pose phone) and should have read some reviews prior to purchase re: no multi-entry feature. Nokia is still the King !! Motorola V3 Razr
